Dr. Tiziano "Tizi" Bernard
"When my parents took me along their travel adventures, I wouldn't want to go unless we were flying. That was the beginning on my journey as an aviator."
Who is this dude?
I'm an FAA Gold Seal Certified Flight Instructor in the Greater Savannah Area. I currently fly with Savannah Aviation out of Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. I was trained at Florida Tech (KMLB) and at GARMIN in the midwest. I'm a CFI/CFII, CPL SEL/MEL, a Cirrus Training Center Instructor, and an IGI. I was born and raised in Trieste (Italy) and moved to the U.S. in 2011.
I strive to provide a more in-depth and technical education. My background is in engineering, with degrees in aerospace engineering (B.S.), flight test engineering (M.S.), and cognitive engineering (Ph.D.). My flight test and doctoral education is focused on flight operations, avionics systems design & evaluation, and cognitive engineering. My main area of expertise is in instrument flight, but I've also done formation flying and advanced aerobatics.
For my day job, I fly as an experimental flight test engineer for a large OEM, specialized in aircraft systems and flight operations. I gained most of my avionics knowledge at the Human-Centered Design Institute (HCDi) at Florida Tech and during my tenure as a human factors engineer at GARMIN. I continue serving academia as an Adjunct Professor of Human Factors and Cognitive Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) and a guest lecturer in both Italy and the United States.
